Two state of the art Theatres, with patient recovery bays, staff accommodation and ancillary spaces, connected to the existing hospital via a link corridor with an enclosed plant room is accommodated at first floor overhead.

The lightweight building sits on a raised grey brick plinth and faces resolutely out to the Merlin Park Campus. The design is composed of a simple rectangular form, part single storey and part two-storey volumes.

Large picture windows on the northern façade provide views from the circulation zone to the landscape beyond whilst revealing the activities within. The detailing is sophisticated and simple, with all elements of the façade visually integrated. The result is sleek and uncluttered. Every line aligns.
