This project delivered a Mental Health Services Facility, Early Intervention & Disability Services Facility and associated office accommodation in a landmark building, the Grove Hospital, Tuam, Co. Galway.

The design refurbishes and utilises as much of the existing building as possible, a structure with an important heritage and social history within Tuam which needed to be sensitively restored. New build elements were designed to demark entrances and provide new accommodation, employing a contemporary concrete aesthetic which is sympathetic to the existing building in terms of scale, proportion, and materiality and complementary to the existing heritage on site. All new interventions are visually identifiable, the use of concrete introducing a contemporary aesthetic, an effort to ensure that the new and old structures coexist harmoniously.
